Program Highlights

Integrated STEM Theme

Discovery Academy is committed to its STEM theme with hands-on, inquiry-based and STEM curriculum. Each week, students attend Design Lab where they explore engineering, coding and robotics. Thorough Take-Apart Lab students learn about backward engineering and the multiple STEM careers in designing and manufacturing products. The rooftop garden allows students to grow and care for fruit and vegetables, while the butterfly garden and bioswale encourages the study of wildlife habitats. The commitment to field studies incorporates multiple field trips in each grade to local resources such as - the Connecticut Science Center, the Children's Science Museum and the Roaring Brook Nature Center.
