Lunar and Meteorite Samples from NASA

Discovery Academy just finished borrowing Lunar and Meteorite samples from NASA. Nine Discovery 3rd graders spent six weeks researching space and were the key presenters for the kindergarten through third grade lessons. All the lunar samples were from the six Apollo missions from 1969 to 1973. The tight security requirements for borrowing this national treasure made the school jump through a lot of hoops. Each day the samples had to be taken to the Wethersfield police station and picked up in the morning. A huge thanks to Officer Barry Veilleux for supporting this project. Any social media posts or photos of the samples were restricted until after the samples arrived back at NASA. Mrs. Neseralla was eight years old when she watched Neil Armstrong step on the moon. She was at summer camp in Canada and remembers going up to the mess hall in her pajamas at 10:45 at night to watch this incredible event.
