The Connecticut Science Teachers Association (CSTA) has selected Discovery Academy’s own Mrs. Worley to receive the “Excellence In Elementary School Science Teaching Award” for 2013-2014. Mrs. Worley was nominated by our Elementary Science Coordinator, Teresa Wilson, an honor in its own right. She will be honored on April 23, 2014 at the Yale Peabody Museum where she will be awarded a plaque and a monetary prize! To learn more about her award and honor, please follow this link to the CSTA.

Mrs. Worley has been teaching for eight years in many different roles. Prior to teaching at CREC Discovery, Sarah taught third grade in Hartford for five years. A 2001 graduate of Keene State College, Mrs. Worley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology but decided to go back to school for teaching. In 2004 she attained her teaching certificate and has been inspiring young minds ever since. Mrs. Worley is currently taking her last two classes to complete her Masters in Education with a specialization in Reading. At home, she spends time with her two children. Her son Tyler is a fifth grade student at CREC’s Glastonbury East Hartford Magnet School and her daughter Caitlin is a preK student in Mrs. Lynch’s class at Discovery Academy. In her free time Sarah enjoys watching football on the weekends and traveling with her family to her son's travel baseball games.
